Connexan Enterprise iSCSI Target (CiT) Features Overview
The CiT provides a multitude of Enterprise-Class Storage features. If there is a
specific feature that your solution requires, but is not listed, please contact
us to discuss your requirements. Connexan is willing to customize the CiT to suit
your company’s needs.

-
Data Replication – On-site and Off-site data replication can currently be handled
directly by the CiT. It is capable of managing replication on its own as well as
integrating with Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS). A third option is
to manage your iSAN Fabric(tm) based storage as you would any other shared storage arrays and use
your existing 3rd-party replication methodologies.
-
Data Provisioning – The CiT will grow your data volumes as necessary. This allows
the user to create, for example, 200GB volumes for VMware or Windows Servers to
access, but only physically allocate what’s currently in use. This virtually eliminates
the need to perform volume and extent expansions / migrations in your production
servers.
-
Disk Emulation – While the CiT is capable of Raw Device Mapping, sometimes the Initiator
operating system does not support the Raw Device - e.g. VMware only sees SCSI-based
devices. The CiT’s emulation capabilities allow you to use almost any disk technology
with almost any operating system.
-
Boot from iSAN Fabric(tm) – The CiT supports booting your Initiator operating systems from
the iSAN. For Blades and resource-distributable solutions, this is an invaluable
capability. Booting from iSAN allows your Initiator servers to become processor
/ memory resource pools and boot any image stored on the CiT storage pool.
-
x64 Support – The CiT is available in both 32-bit and x64 native binaries.
-
Dynamic Discovery – iSNS is supported for name resolution lookups, as well as Dynamic
scanning and discovery of available storage volumes.
-
Security – IPSec and CHAP authentication are both fully supported. Although it is
recommended to physically isolate your CiT-based iSAN Fabric(tm), this isn’t always possible.
Authentication protection protects access to your storage volumes while IPSec can
encrypt all of the data exchanged between your Initiator servers and the CiT storage
pool.
-
Management – E-mail and SNMP support.
